EXPERIENCE JAN’S TUTORING HOUSE
Matching students with success for 25 years!
Jan’s Tutoring House is a nonprofit organization that specializes in providing enriching educational activities for inner city Washington, D.C. youths. In addition to one-on-one mentoring through after-school and summer programs, Jan's Tutoring House also gives students a safe place to learn and be themselves.
WHERE WE STARTED
Founder Jan Eichhorn was the heart and soul of Jan's Tutoring House.
Originally named Friends of Tyler School, Jan's Tutoring House was founded in 1990. Jan recruited tutors, staff and board members. She fundraised, spread the word to families and the community. Jan was a tireless advocate for kids and for the District.
Jan passed away in 2009, but her influence continues under the guidance of an all-volunteer board and approximately 15,000 hours of community volunteer tutor and mentor time.
WHAT WE DO
Every child needs someone who believes in them and their ability to succeed.
We give inner city kids the tools they need to unlock their potential.
